Canapés are little
sandwiches, toast or slices of buttered bread which are filled
or topped with meat paste, fish or caviar – although
caviar may be a little beyond the budget of a typical bridal
shower hostess we think you’ll find these sardine canapés
a little more affordable.
Ingredients
Sliced bread
Sardines
Butter
Cayenne pepper
Lemon juice
Tomato, cucumber, parsley, celery or olive to decorate.
‘Cooking Instructions’
Begin by making the toast then buttering this or the bread.
Then cut into bite size pieces or fingers. After this break
up the sardines and place in a bowl. Now mash the sardines
well, then add the lemon juice, the butter and the cayenne
and mix together to make a paste.
Now spread the paste on the pieces of buttered bread or toast
and garnish with one or two of the suggested ingredients or
something of your choice. Alternatively use as a filling for
small sandwiches
